Packing Can Be Hard

Learn About Helpful Packing Tips

Tips to Get You Started:

Know what can/can’t be in your Box (Food, dangerous chemicals, explosives, etc. are NEVER allowed in our containers)

Pack Heavy things FIRST – This helps prevent lighter items from being crushed and allows you to better maximize your space. It also helps evenly distribute weight.

Label FRAGILE Items – Pack these items with care to avoid anything breaking

ORGANIZE and LABEL Your Belongings BEFORE Loading – This GREATLY helps with unloading as you’ll have a better idea of where everything is. It also helps you know where heavy and light boxes are.

Put Frequently Used Items Near Container Door – Helps with ease of access

Understand Needed Supplies – Do you need moving straps, bubble wrap, carts, etc.? If so, it’s best to get these things ahead of time.

Need More? – Read on for More Details

  • No Food Items-  Avoid storing food items in SnappyBoxes to prevent bug infestation or rodents.
  • No Combustibles-  For safety reasons, refrain from storing combustible items such as paint thinner, gasoline, solvents, and paint in SnappyBoxes.
  • Maximize Hidden Spaces-  Utilize large appliances as “packaging cases” by storing blankets, towels, tablecloths, and clothes inside. Maximize space by filling empty furniture drawers with additional items.

  • Large Furniture-  Store sofas and loveseats vertically to conserve floor space. Shield large furniture with protective covers to prevent dust or damage during storage. For space efficiency, disassemble large items such as tables with detachable legs. Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects on upholstered furniture to prevent damage.

  • Mattresses-  Maintain mattresses in an upright position to prevent bending and maintain their shape over time.

  • Electronics-  Position TVs and other electronic devices towards the back of the storage area and shield them with padded blankets for added protection.

  • Strap Everything Down-  Secure all your items systematically, anchoring one section at a time. This practice minimizes shifting during transportation, safeguarding your belongings from scratches. You can rent straps along with the container. Typically, we advise using at least 4 straps for an 8×16’ unit and 6 straps for an 8×19’ unit.

  • Lock It Up-  Opt for a high-quality lock to ensure the security of your belongings. We highly recommend circular disc locks, which offer superior security compared to standard padlocks.

Additional Packing Tips

  • Inventory-  Maintain a detailed inventory of all items you plan to store, noting the contents of each box and its designated location within the SnappyBox.

  • Plan your Storage Space-  Strategically plan the placement of different groups of items within the SnappyBox. Keep frequently needed items near the front for easy access and ensure there are clear walkways throughout the container.

  • Uniformly-Sized, Sturdy Boxes-  Pack your belongings into sturdy boxes of uniform size to facilitate stacking. Avoid over-packing boxes to prevent them from becoming too heavy and risking injury during lifting.

  • Labeling Boxes-  Ensure all boxes are labeled on every side. This simplifies locating them during storage and identifies their destination when unloading.

  • Rent Small-  Opt for the smallest SnappyBox that accommodates all your belongings snugly. Packing tightly minimizes the risk of items shifting during transit.

  • Heavy Items vs Lighter Items-  Arrange heavier items first to evenly distribute weight within the SnappyBox. Position lighter items on top of heavier ones to prevent shifting during transportation.

  • Dishes and Glasses-  Wrap these items in paper and place them in sturdy boxes. Clearly label these boxes as “FRAGILE” and stack them on top of more robust items to ensure they remain safe during transportation.

  • Pictures and Mirrors-  Wrap in cardboard, and mark as “FRAGILE”. Stack these items on end to prevent damage during transportation.
